Abstract
IL28B genotype is a critical determinant of interferon response in patients infected with hepatitis C virus genotype 1. We describe an allele-specific PCR assay for IL28B genotype. The assay is simple and robust, uses commonly available real-time PCR instrumentation, and is well suited for clinical laboratories offering IL28B genotyping.
